Dropping in color seems like a cool way to use water color. It allows the painting to bleed and feather throughout the picture. I think it will create bright colors and make the painting look interesting. You can mix colors and create different colors that you don't normally see. Dry brush technique would also be a good one to add paint to dry paper and create a clean picture.
